Isaiah 53:10-12
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul
an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days [resurrection?], and the
pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11He shall see of the travail of his soul, and
shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their
iniquities. 12Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil
with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the
transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Christ’s death on the cross was done by God--it pleased the Lord, He put him to grief. He saw
the labor and toil and was satisfied.
“Made intercession” same Hebrew word as in vs. 6--“laid on him” our iniquity is laid on him
who intercedes for us. God has devised a plan to justify the ungodly while remaining just in so
doing. It is wickedness with God to justify wicked people
Why did God go through all this trouble? Why not just eliminate the possibility for sin?
Romans 11:32-36
For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. 33O the depth
of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments,
and his ways past finding out! 34For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been
his counsellor? 35Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

God gave free will, allowed us to rebel, which we took, so that He might show His character of
mercy. Pressing too far beyond that is pushing it! God wants the preeminence and He will get it.
Sinless robots would never enjoy mercy.
Galatians 3:22
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be
given to them that believe.

All are in sin that God might save through faith in Jesus Christ. But Scripture’s conclusion is that
we are wicked
Romans 2:13
For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
To be just before God a man has to be just, righteous, have kept God’s righteous standard, but
we are born in sin, having already broken it. Therefore we need help before the Judge! So the
Judge also becomes our advocate, He intercedes on our behalf. He can do this because He
took our sin with Him to the cross.

We need help from the Judge!
Acts 10:39-43--Peter talking to Gentiles
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem;
whom they slew and hanged on a tree: 40Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him
openly; 41Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat
and drink with him after he rose from the dead. 42And he commanded us to preach unto the
people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and
dead. 43To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him
shall receive remission of sins.

In order to be just before God, we need to have a Judge who looks on us favorably. The Judge
died for your sin, was raised up for the remission of sin.
Luke 20:20-23
And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they
might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the
governor. 21And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest
rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly: 22Is it lawful
for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no? 23But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto
them, Why tempt ye me?

You can’t fool the judge!
Romans 3:24-27
Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25Whom God
hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the
remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26To declare, I say, at this time
his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

There is one who justifies and He knows if He has justified you. No one else can do this and it
is by placing your faith in Jesus Christ, which eliminates all pride. Just men are humble men.
