Jeremiah 32:37-40
Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in
my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to
dwell safely: 38And they shall be my people, and I will be their God: 39And I will give them
one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their
children after them: 40And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn
away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not
depart from me.
God will make a new covenant that will be an eternal covenant, it will happen and will be
fulfilled. This is all God’s doing, it’s impossible for us, not for Him.
Jeremiah 32:27
Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
God’s Word always happens because God said it and He will do it. Only an everlasting person
could keep an everlasting covenant, this covenant is dependent on God.
The Noahic Covenant--rainbow
Genesis 9:16
And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting
covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.
The Abrahamic Covenant--circumcision
Genesis 17:7
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their
generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Genesis 17:13
He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised:
and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
Mosaic Covenant--Sabbath keeping and offerings
Leviticus 24:8
Every sabbath he shall set it [bread] in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the
children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.
Davidic Covenant--David’s son rules--Messiah--a sign unto you babe in swaddling clothes
2 Samuel 23:5
Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant,
ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it
not to grow.
Hebrews 8:6,7
But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a
better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7For if that first covenant had
been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
God makes a better covenant because the old one had faults in it, mainly--it didn’t work!
Hebrews 9:1,2
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.
2For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the
shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
The old covenant was written on stone, external and needed an external temple with external
altar and stuff with external priests
Hebrews 9:9-12
Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices,
that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10Which
stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal [flesh, physical] ordinances,
imposed on them until the time of reformation. 11But Christ being come an high priest of good
things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say,
not of this building; 12Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he
entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
Christ is our spiritual High Priest in the greater and more perfect tabernacle of heaven, not made
with hands. Christ’s offering of His life was better than any physical offering of blood. It
accomplishes eternal redemption.
John 4:21-24
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this
mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22Ye worship ye know not what: we know
what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the
true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to
worship him. 24God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Our worship to God is not physically based, don’t’ need a building, an altar, a sacrifice, a
priesthood, or anything. We worship in Spirit.
